Book Illustration & Commercial Illustration Commission
Bring your story to life with bespoke artwork created specifically for your project.
Whether you're writing a children's book, young-adult novel, fantasy story or another illustrated publication, I can create original artwork to help bring your characters, scenes and ideas to life.
I specialise in traditional and semi-realistic illustration, combining detailed drawing with a painterly approach to create artwork that feels expressive, atmospheric and visually distinctive.
From a single character illustration to a complete book cover or a series of illustrations, each project is developed around your creative brief and the visual world you're building.
✨ Illustration Services
I can create artwork for a variety of projects, including:
- Children's books
- Young-adult books

- Character sheets and designs
- Story scenes
- Fantasy and concept artwork

- Personal publishing projects
- Other bespoke illustration projects
If you have an idea that isn't listed here, please get in touch before ordering. I'm always happy to discuss a project and determine whether I'm the right artist for it.
🎨 My Illustration Style
My work combines traditional artistic techniques with a semi-realistic, detailed approach.
I enjoy creating expressive characters, atmospheric environments and illustrations that have a sense of depth and personality.
For larger projects, we can discuss the visual direction, colour palette, composition and overall style before the artwork begins.
If you already have a clear visual direction for your project, you are welcome to provide references, mood boards or examples of the atmosphere you're looking for.
📋 Before You Order
Commercial illustration projects can vary enormously in scope.
Before purchasing, I strongly recommend contacting me with details of your project so that I can make sure the appropriate commission option, pricing and licensing arrangements are in place.
Please provide, where applicable:
- A description of your project
- The number of illustrations required
- Intended illustration sizes
- Whether the artwork is for print, digital or both
- Your intended publication or commercial use
- Any relevant deadlines
- Reference material or visual examples
- Any existing character or design information
For larger projects involving multiple illustrations, please contact me before placing an order so that I can provide an appropriate quotation.
🖌️ The Process
1. Discuss Your Project
We'll establish what you need, the visual direction, the number of illustrations, your intended use and any relevant deadlines.
This is particularly important for commercial projects because the scope and licensing requirements can vary from one project to another.
2. Commission & Brief
Once the project details have been agreed, you'll receive the appropriate commission information and can provide the final creative brief and references.
3. Sketch & Composition
I'll begin developing the illustration from your brief.
Where your selected commission option includes a sketch approval stage, you'll receive the relevant preview before I proceed with the finished artwork.
This is the stage where composition, positioning and major visual elements are established.
4. Final Artwork
Once the concept has been approved where applicable, I'll develop the finished illustration, adding colour, detail, atmosphere and final refinements.
The artwork is created individually for your project rather than generated or mass-produced.
5. Digital Delivery
Once the artwork has been completed and approved, you'll receive the agreed high-resolution digital file(s) in the format specified for your project.
No physical artwork will be shipped unless this has been specifically agreed as part of your commission.
💻 Digital Artwork & File Delivery
This listing is for digital illustration services unless otherwise specified.
Final artwork will be supplied as high-resolution digital files suitable for the agreed purpose.
The exact file format, dimensions and resolution can be discussed according to your requirements.
If you require specific production specifications for a publisher, printer or other third party, please provide these before the artwork begins.
© Copyright & Commercial Licensing
Purchasing an illustration does not automatically transfer copyright or grant unrestricted commercial rights.
Copyright in the artwork remains with me unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
Your purchase includes the specific usage rights agreed for your project.
Commercial use, reproduction, publication, distribution, merchandise, advertising, licensing, resale or other uses outside the agreed scope require appropriate permission and, where applicable, an additional licensing fee.
If you are commissioning artwork for a book or other commercial publication, please provide details of the intended use before ordering so that the appropriate licensing terms can be agreed.
I may retain the right to display commissioned artwork in my portfolio, website, social media, exhibitions and other promotional materials unless a confidentiality or exclusivity agreement has been arranged separately.
📚 Book Projects & Multiple Illustrations
If you're creating a book, you may require substantially more than one illustration.
Rather than simply purchasing individual listings repeatedly, please contact me first if you require:
- Multiple interior illustrations
- A complete illustrated book
- A book cover plus interior artwork
- Character sheets
- Multiple recurring characters
- A consistent illustrated world
- Publisher-specific artwork
- Exclusive artwork or licensing
- Tight publication deadlines
I can then discuss the scope of the project and provide an appropriate quotation.
⏱️ Processing Time
The time required depends on the complexity and scope of the project.
For individual illustration commissions, the applicable processing timeframe will be stated in the relevant commission option.
Larger commercial projects involving multiple illustrations will require an individually agreed schedule.
Processing time refers to the creation and completion of the artwork and does not constitute a guaranteed publication or project deadline unless a specific deadline has been expressly agreed in writing.
If you have a fixed publishing deadline, please discuss it with me before ordering.
💛 Have a Story to Tell?
Whether you're creating your first children's book, developing a fantasy world or working on a larger publishing project, I'd love to hear about it.
Tell me what you're creating, what you need the artwork to do and the kind of world you're hoping to build.
Let's create something that gives your story a visual identity of its own.
